What Is The Ryan Bingham Film?
Two minutes and forty six seconds, black and white, shot across one night at Billy Bob’s Texas. It is a portrait rather than a concert film: Bingham talks in his own words about learning guitar, about writing songs as a form of therapy, about making them up in the back seat on the way to rodeos with his buddies until the gigs took over and he stuck with that instead. The camera spends the rest of its time on the evidence of the work, guitars racked in the wings, a pedalboard on the floor, the console at front of house, a roper in the arena at the Stockyards. Ultralite Films produced it. Joey Arcisz shot it, co-directed it, and edited it.
