The Unspoken Speech
Winner of the 2014 ADDY Best of Show Broadcast award and a Gold ADDY in the Public Service Audio/Visual category. Joey Arcisz cut the film as chief editor.
“Above all, words alone are not enough. The United States is a peaceful nation. And where our strength and determination are clear, our words need merely to convey conviction, not belligerence. If we are strong, our strength will speak for itself. If we are weak, words will be of no help.”
President John F. Kennedy
Why Did The Unspoken Speech Win Best of Show?
The Unspoken Speech Project is built around the speech President Kennedy never delivered in Dallas. Words Alone, the film in the project that Joey Arcisz cut as chief editor, took the 2014 ADDY Best of Show in Broadcast, along with a Gold ADDY in the Public Service Audio/Visual category. The edit is the film: the work was archival research, structure, and rhythm, cutting historical material against the undelivered text until the finished piece carried the weight the speech never got to.
